Frequently Asked Questions

Does Semaglutide work for weight loss?

Yes.  After treating so many patients personally, the documentation speaks for itself.  People's recorded weights tend to all go down when taking this treatment regularly, and for more than a few weeks.

Is it safe?

As with any treatment there are side effects.  We consult various peer reviewed sources to get an idea of what adverse drug reactions (ADRs) we can expect.  The treatment appears to be well tolerated by most patients, and common side effects encountered in practice have been occasional nausea, constipation.

How does it work?

  • Mimics GLP-1: Semaglutide mimics the action of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) hormone, which is naturally released after eating.
  • Increases Insulin Secretion: It stimulates the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar levels are high, helping to lower glucose levels.
  • Reduces Glucagon Release: It suppresses the release of glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar by prompting the liver to release stored glucose.
  • Slows Gastric Emptying: It delays the movement of food from the stomach to the intestines, which helps control post-meal blood sugar spikes and promotes a feeling of fullness.
  • Appetite Suppression: By acting on the brain's appetite regulation centers, it reduces hunger, aiding in weight loss [1]

How do you take it?

Subcutaneously, which is not the same as intramuscular.  It uses a 4mm needle 32guage into one of a few locations of fat on your body.  Typically we recommend you alternate sites, and we offer full education on this as needed.
