Just this past week, Novo Nordisk (their rep), the big pharma that brought us Semaglutide (GLP-1) agonist, which so many people are losing weight with, came in and informed us they are rolling out Wegovy in pill form. You don’t need diabetes for this effective treatment; being overweight is enough.

From the looks of it, it appears to be a brute force tactic to overcome decreased absorption by passing through the stomach first, so tabs start at 25mg. If you remember, the SC injections start off at 0.25mg/week. How effective this will be compared to injectables remains to be seen. The reports from big pharma are great, but I’ll know firsthand if it’s successful.
The real benefit here will be with cost savings. I predict both oral and injectable will coexist in the market.
